Research
Autonomous Ice Resurfacers
PhD Dissertation Research
- Developing an autonomous ice resurfacing research platform spanning simulation, surface perception, coverage planning, adaptive water allocation, and cyber-physical resilience.
- Establishing the first dissertation study through the accepted CARS 2026 paper on task-state integrity attacks and low-cost defenses for fixed-route resurfacing.
- Building repeatable simulation and evaluation tools for experiments involving surface degradation, vehicle constraints, localization error, and adversarial observations.
- Extending the fixed-route baseline toward adaptive coverage and service planning that balance surface quality, time, water, and energy use.
Vegetation Classification via Convolutional Neural Network
UND Summer REU, 2018
- Built a CNN using TensorFlow for image-based classification of surface vegetation during a summer REU at the University of North Dakota, preceding enrollment as a PhD student at UND.
