Overview
This project explores supervisory teleoperation for multi-robot systems, developing interfaces and intervention policies that enable a single operator to effectively manage multiple robots. The work is being conducted as part of the IEEE Telepresence Initiative Summer School at RIT (July 2026).
Research Focus
- Supervisory Teleoperation UI: Designing operator interfaces for monitoring and controlling multiple robots simultaneously.
- Intervention Policies: Determining when and how an operator should intervene in autonomous robot operation, including trigger policies and shared autonomy assist mechanisms.
- Communication Degradation: Ensuring robustness when network conditions deteriorate between operator and remote robots.
Publication Target
Workshop/short paper submission targeted 4-8 weeks post-summer school, with potential extension to a full ICRA/IROS paper combining teleoperation insights with the autonomous ice resurfacing project.
